I passed! I passed! I passed!

Friday, Jan 18th, I took the Gestational Diabetes test and I passed!! I do NOT have Gestational Diabetes!! I am so very excited. The doctor was sure I was going to get it but I didn't! I celebrated by cutting my hair short. It is now up to my shoulders. Hee Hee...

Tomorrow is the first baby shower. Joe is going with me since I can't bend over to pick anything up. I'm so excited!!

GREAT NEWS!!

The babies were measured this past Friday and they now weigh 3.1 and 3.2 pounds each!! They are about 2 weeks ahead in growth which means the chances of me having toxemia have reduced!! Pregnant women with toxemia have under weight babies, not overweight!! YIPPEE!!!

27 weeks and counting...

Things have changed a lot since Christmas. On Dec 27, Joe had to take me to the Maternal Observation Ward due to high blood pressure. They kept me for 4 hours and then sent me home. Then, on Jan 4, I had an appt to see my delivery doctor. He said my blood pressure has been consistently high for the last 3 visits and he wanted to do more tests (blood/urine), and put me on mild bed rest. He said I could be up 2 hours, then down 1 hour. On Sunday, Jan 6, I had to collect all of my urine for 24 hours. That process REALLY REALLY SUCKED!!! Monday, Jan 7, have blood tests done and turn in the urine sample. The nurse called Monday afternoon and said "The doctor's exact words were 'Not too bad' and he still wants to see you tomorrow". UUGGGHHHH...

Tuesday, Jan 8, I went to see the delivery doctor and completely fell apart during the visit. He said he did not think I had toxemia at this time but was sure I was trying to get it. Also, I am now on moderate bed rest (up 1 hour, down 2 hours), can't go back to work, expect to be hospitalized very soon, and expect to be in the hospital several weeks or until the boys are born. He is now convinced that I won't make it to 36 weeks. We are trying everything we can to keep out of the hospital as long as possible and to keep from going into labor. The doctor is also worried about my shortness of breath. He thinks it's just the boys putting pressure on my diaphragm and making it difficult to breath but I have to get a cardiogram down on Thursday.

So, Thursday, Jan 10, I have to go to a new doctor and have a cardiogram. Friday, I have an appt to go see the risk doctor and get the boys measured to see how big they are now. Sunday, I have to collect all of my urine again for 24 hours. Monday, I go for more blood tests and turn in the urine sample. Tuesday, I return for all the test results. And after each statement the doctor follows up with "Assuming you're not in the hospital by then".

Joe goes to work each day, calls me often. And the doctor has told Joe, on many occasions, if anything changes, get her to the Maternal Observation Ward immediately. And my dad wonders why I was crying when he called me. The doctor makes it sound like I'm a sitting time bomb.

Baby Shower!!

I am getting really excited about the baby shower! Not much longer to wait. I just hope I don't go into labor before the shower!! Everything is still so strange to me. It still seems like a fantasy. Sometimes I don't feel pregnant, which only happens in the mornings, and that's when I get caught petting my tummy.

2 New Side Effects

Other than getting BIGGER and BIGGER... I have 2 new side effects of pregnancy. The Braxton Hicks Contractions have begun (which are not bad at all) and uncontrollable crying (which really sucks). I had a doctor's appt last week and I cried throughout the entire appt. I asked the doctor if there was anything I could do about it and he kindly said "no".

Last night, I was feeling my tummy, and I said "JOE! COME FEEL THS!" I found a head in the lowest part of my tummy. Then, about an hour later... "JOE!! COME FEEL THIS!" We found a foot! It was really cute.

The babies are doing great and kicking all the time! I was reading in my TWINS book and it reads "During the next 4 weeks, you may feel pressure in your rectum." I instantly told Joe "See! I told you they were kicking my ass!"

I went and saw the doctor this past Friday and he has scheduled the C-Section for March 25 (my sister-in-law's birthday), however, there is a 70% chance I will go into labor before then.

Joe put together both cribs last night and we arranged the nursery. It is so cute. I will post pictures of the room right after Christmas. I want to get the changing table in there before I take the pictures. It's hard fitting 2 cribs into 1 nursery!! Joe and I have stopped in the doorway many times just to gaze at the room.

It's Official!!

We're having twin boys!! They now weigh 1 pound each and I can feel them moving around. It is so weird!! We already have the names picked out. They are...

Gage Farrell Hughes
Aiden Granger Hughes

The doctor says they are growing rapidly and appear to be very healthy! YEA!

Here's a question for you...

I can understand my knees hurting from the extra weight... I can understand getting pimples from the extra hormones... But will someone please explain to me why I now have fuzzy ear lobes? I'm beginning to look like my granddad!
